John and I grew up in the same neighborhood and both of us had connections to Mulberry. He and I used to go fishing, camping and hunting together since the time we were in Lakeland Junior High. We would load all our camping gear on our bicycles and ride out around Lake Parker to Fish Lake and set up camp there. He contacted me sometime before our 40th Class Reunion and he and his wife and I and mine got together and we attended the banquet at Lone Palm. Some time after that his wife called me to say that John's health was failing and he was in Bay Pines Veterans Hospital. I visited him there and that was the last time I saw him. My wife and I attended his funeral in Arcadia.

I just  read Reece Caraker's comment of John.  I also was born and raised in the same neighborhood as John ( about one block away).  I remember walking to school with John over a path that led over the railroad tracks where Lake Parker Ave goes under now.  Was in grammar school with John In John Cox Elementary.  Had a lot good times in the neighborhood.

John should be recognized as a veteran. He served in both the U. S. Navy and  Air Force.

I was down in Arcadia and I learned about John's passing. I found the graveyard I took some pictures. Use there a way to get pictures on to this website or I could email them to an address. Ed Flanagan coreflanagan@gmail.com

I only knew John distantly during our LHS days, but when I was stationed at HQ SAC in Omaha, NE, I answered a classified ad to buy a ham radio set, and lo and behold, it turned out to be John who had it for sale.  I remember at the time feeling that there must be some cosmic reason for us to bump into each other so coincidentally half way across the country, and I spent quite some time trying to fathom some meaning from it, but alas, as it turned out, it was merely serendipity.  It was an interesting lesson though, in how small the world can be.  RIP John.
