James, Jimmy to us who knew him well. was a good friend. played football with him in high school He died fighting for his country to keep us all free. A great Marine He paid the ultimate price My hat is off to you Jimmy , will see you soon in heaven
I did not know Jimmy in high school or ever run into afterwards but I served in Vietnam and know what it took to endure there. Like those who served in that war and all others, I respect and honor their service and scrafice.

Jimmie for sure was in one of the worst areas of Vietnam in 1967. The entire province of Quang Tri bordered the DMZ and was constantly under NVA attack most of the year. My helicopter squadron supported the grunts in Operations Prairie, Hickory and others there during this period and many good Marines were lost between March and October. I knew Jimmie at LHS, but did not have occasion to see him in Vietnam. Thankfully, I made it back and sadly he did not. If there is one thing I came home with, it was with an appreciation of just how good (and easy) we have it here. Unfortunately, too many people don't realize that only luck has placed them in a unique position of being born in the greatest country on earth and don't fully appreciate the sacrifices that people like Jimmie have made on their behalf.

As well, I don't believe I knew him but appreciate the sacrifice he was willing to give. On behalf of my late husband allow me to say, "Semper Fi"
