Wayne was a Navy Medical Corpsman transferred to the Marines in his service in Viet Nam in the DMZ.  He was wounded twice.  After he returned home, he was stationed at the Naval Hospital at Charleston, SC in the Physical Therapy Department.  After his discharge, he attended The Citadel as a Veteran Student, majoring in Business.  He graduated in 1972, taking a job at First Federal Savings and Loan of Charleston where he became one of the Vice Presidents.  He passed away from cancer in 1983.

I don't remember knowing Wyane but having also served in Vietnam I wanted to acknowlege his service.  As a medic I know he must have allowed a lot of marines to have had long full lives.  One of my favorite quotes is from Robert Jordon (served in Vietnam as a Huey gunner), this is for you marine:

“One more dance along the razor's edge finished. Almost dead yesterday, maybe dead tomorrow, but alive, gloriously alive, today.”

Thank you for your kind rely; and for directing me to your thoughts "In Memory". I had always thought of your late husband as LaWayne, assuming the name to be French.
And I was not aware that you and LaWayne were married.
It suddenly dawns on me how out of touch a high school graduating class becomes the last day of school.

LaWayne was a very nice young man in highschool.

Remember seeing him at the pool on some hot summer days.

He would yell "Sink the Bismark!!" just before he spashed into the pool.

VietNam, as in all wars take a terrible toll on all who serve, as well as all who

wait at home for them to return.
