Catherine married our classmate Hugh Patterson, & they were married forever. Unfortunately she lost a brave battle with cancer shortly before our 50th reunion.

I remember Catherine. We had several classes together. We were in the seventh grade when Southwest Jr. High School was new. She was always very quite but you just knew when she was around and she did not have to make a sound to know that she was there. There was something about her that exuded good and kindness.

Catherine and I met in 7th grade at Southwest Jr High. We enjoyed eating together. In 11th grade Catherine and I were in Coach Owenbrink's history class; we got in trouble talking together more than once. He was so tolerent of us. In 12th grade Catherine and I ate lunch together occasionally in the cafeteria or would bring lunch and eat on the back steps of the Math building. During my sophomore year in college I began dating Catherine. We married in March 1968 and were together 45 years. She passed from cancer April 1, 2013 in Lakeland.

Ditto Quill's comment that Catherine exuded goodness and kindness. I first encountered Catherine at Southwest Junior High. She was quietly friendly and thoughtful. She valued a good education, was a good student, and didn't let any distractions get her off track. We talked at the 20th reunion and I was so happy to see that she had achieved her goals and was very happy with her life. Speaks well of you too, Hugh. Enjoyed reading your account of how you met and how your friendship evolved. I admired her tremendously.
