Jonn "Jack" M. Harjes, 66, of Port Orange, peacefully passed away on August 10, 2012 at the Hospice of Volusia /Flager Care Center surrounded by his loving family. Jack was born August 25, 1945 in Hammond, Indiana. Formerly of Lakeland, FL. Jack graduated from Lakeland Sr. High School in 1963. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam War from 1968 through 1972. After the service he went to nursing school then anesthesia school graduating from anesthesia school in 1978. Jack worked as a CRNA for many years in the Volusia/Flagler area. He retired in 2004. The only son of the late Herman and Grace Harjes. He was also preceded in death by his nephew Jameson "JD" Sanders. Jack is survived by his long time loving companion, Barbara McAllister of Port Orange; son, Nathan J. Harjes also of Port Orange; sister, Catherine "Cathy" Matthews (Dave) of Wildwood; nephew, David Matthews Jr. of Tampa; niece, Denise Sanders (Jim) of Tunnel Hill, GA; two great-nieces, Kailey and Sarahanne Sanders of Tunnel Hill, GA;. and many loving friends. Jack was an avid tennis player, a motorcycle enthusiast and he loved the outdoors especially traveling with his beloved companion Barbara.

went to grade school with john and saw him at the 40th class reunion, sorry to hear he had passed away.
