
Dean Sherman, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, and brother, passed away
peacefully on May 8, 2025, at age 80. Dean was born on March 23, 1945, in Goshen,
Indiana, to Ralph and Blanche Sherman. At an early age he moved with his family to
Florida. After a short stay in Sebring, Florida, his family finally relocated to Lakeland,
where he lived for most of his life. He moved to Trenton, Florida for his final two years
to be near to his son and grandson.
Dean graduated from Lakeland Senior High School. Subsequently, he enlisted in the
navy, where he dedicated four years to military service. Dean has held various
positions across different industries throughout his career. Some notable
establishments include FMC, Sanborn Camera Center, Linder and Lowery Organ Store,
among others. Later in his career, he became a Crime Scene Investigator with the
Lakeland Police Department, where he served until his retirement.
Dean had various hobbies and interests, with photography being his favorite. It is also
well known that he has a profound appreciation for steam trains, which is evident from
his extensive collection. Dean is best remembered for his smile and sense of humor.
He was friendly with everyone he met. His devotion to the Lord was paramount.
Throughout his life, he held roles as a music director, served as a deacon, and taught
Sunday school at multiple churches throughout his life.
Dean is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Georgie Sherman, his brother Wayne
Sherman, his son Michael Sherman, and his grandson Paul Sherman. He was
preceded in death by his parents.
